OTR Grapvine

Heard a bunch of cool news this week for the OTR/Gateway Quarter/Findlay area. Some of it I have been forbidden to spill the beans on (at least not yeat).

Here is what I can say. Nigel Cotterill (Universal Grille fame) is rumored to be taking the lease on the Alchemize space at 12th and Walnut. It will be a bar concept to welcome locals and the arts crowd. Not clear if it'll have food.

Second bit of news is that one of the condo developments in the Gateway Quarter has signed a lease for a restaurant with a locally famous restraunteur. There's a lot of people that could be, but when the announcement is ready, it'll be great news for the neighborhood.

Finally, wait for a major announcement for a late April Findlay Market event. I'm really excited about this one, and can't wait until I can start spreading the news.

May Bike Month - Cincinnati

May is National Bike Month. This year Cincinnati is re-energizing the event, and has launched a community supported biking 'wiki'. The site (Cinergize.com) is focused on collecting information about cycling in Cincinnati.

The major first use of the site is to promote Bike Month in Cincinnati. If you're a cyclist (recreation or serious) i really encourage you to learn more about it, and get involved. You can volunteer, sponsor, bike, or just spread the word. But for numerous reasons (gas prices, traffic, pollution, health) there is real momentum to make biking easier and safer in communities across the country.

I know that for the Riverfront Park there is discussion about creating a bike 'center'. With bike lockers, locker rooms and bike repair shop. The cost would be minimal (and less than parking). Add that to the street car line and bike commuting in CIncinnati will get MUCH easier!

Back from Austin

Just got back last night from Austin. What a wonderful week... It's truly a great time, and I look forward to next year!

Check out the blog by CinWeekly's Kari Wethington, and my own blog from the week - Nati SXSW. Ran into her a couple times during the week. Mostly at Cincinnati shows, as we had to show the home town bands some love.

If you have the chance to go down to SXSW in the future I really recommend it. It's a blast, and really pretty inexpensive (don't get a badge or a wristband, there's plenty of free/cheap music to see)

Back to regular blogging this week!
