Public Transit Works and it's for the Masses
USA Today is reporting today that mass transit ridership nationwide is up 2.9% in 2006, and 4% in the 4th quarter (even as gas prices are lower in 4Q 2006 than in 4Q 2005).
That now puts the transit ridership rate at a level not seen since the late 1950's with over 10 BILLION trips in 2006. It's great news, and it shows that as mass transit systems are improved and expanded, ridership increases along with it.
