B-A-N-A-N-A-S - Come on Sing It
I know all the economic developers in Cincinnati are. It's great news, not the least because it didn't cost the city millions like Convergys did, when the company held Cincinnati hostage. I'm impressed by Chiquita leadership that they didn't hold a gun to the head of the city to get them to stay.
They looked at options, including costs of moving, and determined that staying put made good business sense, and focusing on running their business is more important than saving a couple million in taxes. They would have lost a ton of employees if they moved the headquarters 1,500 miles. I am sure that factored in to the decision.
BUt overall, it is fantastic news that Chiquita will remain a Fortune 500 Corporation headquarted in Cincinnati.
